Our Facilities
Surgical procedures
We carry out a wide range of surgical procedures, including neutering, on weekdays. Patients are admitted in the morning and are usually allowed home later the same day. We are always looking to extend our services and offer surgical procedures which include; cruciate repair for dogs (TTA, wire), some micro-surgery including corneal graft repair for cats and dogs and RidgeStop™, a new surgical technique for treating patellar luxation (floating kneecap). We are currently developing our arthroscopy service (using a camera to look inside joints and treat problems).
Routine healthcare
At the Friendly Animal Clinic, we carry out all the routine vaccinations and health checks your pet needs. We offer help with worming and flea control and microchip pets so they can be identified and returned to you if they become lost. As well as working with dogs and cats, we also treat rabbits, guinea pigs and other ‘small furries’.
Our veterinary nurses provide a full range of FREE clinics ranging from puppy parties, adolescent health checks, weight clinics and geriatric clinics. They can also offer dietary advice and oral hygiene checks.
Behaviour
If you are concerned about your pet’s behavior, we are happy to help. We will discuss any issues of concern and come up with a solution tailored to your pet. If necessary, we may refer you to a specialist but where possible we will give you the help you need in-house.
The Friendly Health Club
Members of The Friendly Health Club enjoy free consultations for 12 months for a one-off membership fee. The club allows owners to bring their pets and get advice as often as they need to without worrying about the costs mounting up. This works well for those patients with a chronic condition, for example skin disease, who require regular visits to the vet and who may not benefit from pet insurance. Members also receive a discount on annual vaccinations. Please note that the membership fee only covers the cost of the consultation and any medication or surgical procedures must be paid for separately.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture can help manage pain and improve an animal’s resistance to disease. Fine needles are inserted at specific acupuncture points on your pet’s body to help them cope with illness and improve their quality of life. We offer acupuncture, where we feel it is appropriate, alongside conventional treatment. Cheryl offers extended appointment times to allow for relaxation during acupuncture sessions.
Diet
One of the most important things you can do to protect your pet’s health is to feed them a balanced, nutritious diet. We can offer advice on your pet’s diet and help you find the best food to suit your budget and lifestyle. We stock a range of high quality pet foods at the surgery, including Burns, Lily’s Kitchen, Natures Menu and Arden Grange. We also stock Royal Canin, which is a special prescription pet food for animals with medical conditions.
RSPCA
At the Friendly Animal Clinic, we participate in a number of RSPCA schemes including vaccinations, neutering and the elderly animal rehoming scheme (EARS). We run a clinic every Thursday for small furries – rabbits, mice, guinea pigs, hamsters and other small, furry pets.
Cats Protection
We work with our local branch of Cats Protection, offering routine neutering and vaccinations as well as medical care.
