Treatments
Conventional
Routine vaccinations, worming, neutering, health checks and id chipping are
some examples of our standard treatments.
We are happy to do home visits as we appreciate that some animals do not
travel well and some owners struggle with transport.
We are well equipped to provide further investigation for more complicated
medical and surgical cases including some orthopaedic procedures.
The FRIENDLY HEALTH CLUB:
The Friendly Health Club is proving very popular with clients; a one - off
fee provides FREE CONSULTATIONS FOR TWELVE MONTHS. It provides members with a
discount on annual vaccinations. The F.H.C. enables owners to bring pets as
often as they wish without worry of cost being an issue.
(please note that medication is to be paid for at the time of treatment.)
Homeopathy
Homeopathy is the principle of treating like with like. Its aim is to provide
the gentle speedy and permanent recovery of the patient. It encompasses
lifestyle, diet, exercise, past and present treatments of the animal to find
a remedy which best suits the symptoms of the patient to aim for a cure.
Certain cases respond well to homeopathy;chronic illness such as skin
disease, digestive upsets and arthritis.
Homeopathy can be used on its own or alongside conventional treatments and
acupuncture.
An intial homeopathic consultation takes approximately one and a half to two
hours. Follow up appointments depend upon the particular case.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture uses fine needles inserted at specific points on an animals body
to help with many different problems. Using these acupuncture points we can
help control pain and improve an animals resistance to disease and help the
body generally cope with illness. We find that it is particularly effective
against pain associated with arthritis, some types of skin disease eg lick
granuloma and can be beneficial when an animal has a long term illness,
improving general quality of life.
Homeopathy and acupuncture are not 'cure alls', nor are they appropriate on
all cases but we use them as additional medical 'tools' alongside our
conventional treatments, or we can offer them alone.
Diet
A good well balanced diet is essential for the natural wellbeing of your pet
and contributes to the preventative approach to our care of your pet. If time
allows, the B.A.R.F. (bones and raw food) is to be recommended. This does
require some committment on the part of the owner; often cicken wings (raw
previously frozen and defrosted) with pulverised raw vegetables +/_ vitamin
/ oil supplements are fed. Today's lifestyle constraints mean that
preprepared foods are often fed.
We are happy to provide advice on various diets which suit you and your pet.
Behaviour
Many people worry about their pet's behaviour. We can arrange anything from
puppy training classes to the problematic behavioural cases where 1:1
appointments at home are helpful.
Tia Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue
We work with Tia in routine neutering, vaccinations and investigations.
Deb and Bob work extremely hard to provide rehoming opportunities for
greyhounds and lurchers with the help of volunteers; fund raising and dog
walking.
They provide an environment which few other rescue centres can achieve.
RSCPA

We participate in the various RSPCA schemes including
vaccinations, neutering, elderly animal rehoming scheme.
Cheryl is becoming quite adept at castrating mice and guinea pigs!
